ScreenRecorder questions.
Straightforward answers.
The details about using ScreenRecorder, from choosing your canvas to understanding the one-time license.
Getting started
Can I download the app now?
Not yet. The app is in preview while we finish release testing. Public downloads and payments are not open. Check the download and compatibility page for the current status.
Which Macs does it support?
The app requires macOS 15 or later. Apple Silicon is the first release target. The final supported-device list will accompany the public download; Intel compatibility has not been confirmed.
Is it a subscription?
No. The planned offer is $29 USD once, including all future Mac app versions and use on three personally owned Macs. A seven-day full-feature trial lets you check the app before buying. Read the pricing details.
Your recording and layout
Can I edit a video I already recorded?
Yes. Import a local video, including a recording transferred from your phone. You can adjust its framing, background and output canvas. Imported videos do not contain the cursor activity recorded by the app, so importing a clip does not add that metadata.
Can I record a microphone and audio from an app?
The capture workflow has microphone and system-audio choices. Check your selected inputs and permissions, then record and listen to a short test before a longer take. Hardware capture testing is still part of the preview release work. Our Mac audio guide explains the different sources.
How does the desktop camera window work?
Place a camera window over the desktop recording, choose a corner, drag it into position and resize it. One saved position applies to the whole video. Changing its position at different moments is not part of this first camera-layout workflow.
Can I split the screen and camera 50/50?
Yes, in portrait projects with camera footage. The top-and-bottom split is designed for phone-sized video. Desktop projects use the movable camera window, keeping more of the screen visible. See the vertical recording guide.
Can I make a vertical Reel?
Yes. Choose a 9:16 canvas, fit or fill your footage, and export a vertical MP4. Start with a Mac recording or a clip imported from your phone. Check that important text stays readable at phone size before sharing.
Can I record my iPhone screen?
You can import a video recorded on your phone. The app also has a guided entry for capturing an Apple iPhone Mirroring window, but real paired-device recording is still being tested. Apple’s supported-device and regional requirements continue to apply.
Files, privacy and examples
Are my recordings uploaded?
Capture, editing and rendering happen locally on your Mac. Source footage and editable projects are saved where you choose. License activation is separate from media processing. The privacy page explains the current website and app preview.
Does the app make AI presenters or voices?
No. The fictional presenter and narration in our example videos were made separately, then rendered through the app’s video pipeline. They are demonstrations, not testimonials. AI presenters, voice generation and automatic captions are not Mac app features.
Where can I get help with a project?
Start with the support checklist. If the issue remains, contact Anil with your macOS version, app version and a short description. Remove confidential information from any example files you send.
